coconut shrimp with asian dipping sauces chinese recipe
Succulent shrimp coated with shredded coconut then deep fried until golden brown. Serve with choice of orange ginger, General Tso's or sweet & sour sauce.
Ingredients (2 servings)
  • 1 lb large fresh shrimp *
  • ¾ cup all purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup beer
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups grated coconut
  • 4 tbsp your choice of Asian Menu™ sauce (Orange Ginger, General Tso's, Sweet & Sour)
  • 3 cups oil
* You can substitute shrimp with scallops, fish sticks or chicken tenders.

Preparing it (10 minutes)
  1. Remove shell and de-vein shrimp.
  2. Make batter by mixing ½ cup flour, beer, egg and baking powder.
  3. Roll shrimp in ¼ cup flour.
  4. Dip shrimp in batter.
  5. Roll shrimp in grated coconut.

Cooking it (3 minutes)
  1. Heat oil in fryer over high heat until hot (approx. 350°F).
  2. Deep fry shrimp until golden brown.
  3. Serve shrimp with your choice of Asian Menu™ sauce at room temperature.
